👥 Sharing Your AutoDrive with Family or a Team

An account group is a shared container for your AutoDrive data. Every vehicle, drive, fuel log, and driver belongs to a group — not to a single user. When you invite someone into the group, their phone can start logging drives against the same vehicles, and everyone in the group sees the combined history and reports.

When you created your AutoDrive account, we automatically made a personal group for you called "<Your First Name>'s AutoDrive". You're the owner. Everything you've logged up to now lives in that group.

Who are groups for?

• Households. You and your spouse both drive the family cars from your own phones. Create a personal group, invite them, and every drive attributes correctly without sharing one account.
• Company fleets. Your drivers use the AutoDrive app on their own phones, and management runs reports across all of them from one dashboard. Use a fleet group for this.
• Multi-business owners. Running more than one company? Spin up a separate Fleet group for each on Online — every group has its own drivers, vehicles, and invoices, so Acme Delivery never mixes with Acme Service. See How many groups can I have? below.

Roles inside a group

• Owner — manages billing, can rename or delete the group, can change member roles. Every group has exactly one owner. The person who creates the group is the owner.
• Admin — can invite and remove members, edit vehicles and drivers. Can't delete the group or change billing.
• Member — logs their own drives, fuel, and charging. In a personal group, members can see everyone's drives; in a fleet group, members only see their own.
• Driver — locked to a single inviting group. Drives, fuels, and charges against that group's vehicles only; cannot create vehicles, drivers, or other groups. The apps switch to a streamlined classic dashboard for drivers; Online hides the Account menu and group selector.

You can belong to more than one group — your personal household and a work fleet, for example. Use the group switcher in the top navigation to jump between them; see Switching Between Groups.

Group size limits

Every group has a vehicle cap and a driver cap that depend on the group's subscription. Free groups are capped at 1/1. AutoDrive Personal unlocks 2/2; AutoDrive Fleet unlocks 20/20. The Your Limits card on the Account Groups page shows a live "N of M" for both, with a progress bar and an Upgrade prompt when you're at-cap. Full details in AutoDrive Personal vs Fleet.

If support has granted your group a custom limit, the Your Limits card shows a small (custom limits) badge next to the plan name. The numbers displayed there are what the server enforces.

How many groups can I have?

On Online (the web app at theautodriveapp.com), you can run as many Personal and Fleet groups as you need — each with its own subscription, its own drivers, its own billing. Tap + New Group on the Account Groups page, enter a name, pick Personal or Fleet, and we'll take you straight into checkout. The group is created only after payment succeeds — if you close the checkout tab without completing, nothing is saved, so you'll never end up with empty groups cluttering your list.

The iPhone and Android apps are capped by app-store rules at one Personal sub + one Fleet sub per Apple ID or Google account. If you need more groups, add them on Online. The phone apps will pick up every group you own (mobile or Online) and show them all in the horizontal scroller at the top of the Account Groups screen — tap any card to switch.

Each group card shows where it's billed: Apple, Google, Online, or Gift. The Manage button on the subscription row takes you to the right place automatically — App Store for Apple, Play Store for Google, Online for Stripe-billed groups.
