📱 AutoDrive Live Track (iPhone)

See your active drive in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen while you drive. iPhone only.

AutoDrive Live Track is an iPhone-only feature that shows your current drive’s speed, distance, elapsed time, and status in a glanceable Live Activity while you’re tracking. The activity appears in two places: the Dynamic Island at the top of the screen on iPhone 14 Pro and newer, and as a full Lock Screen card on any iPhone running iOS 16.1 or later.

Live Track starts automatically whenever a drive begins — either because you tapped Start Drive manually, or because AutoTrack detected you were driving. It updates once per GPS reading (roughly every few seconds) and ends on its own when the drive ends. There is nothing to turn on inside AutoDrive.

What you’ll see:

  • Compact Dynamic Island — a small car icon on the left and your current speed on the right.
  • Expanded Dynamic Island — long-press to expand. Shows elapsed time, current speed, distance so far, vehicle name, and a status line (e.g. “Traveling NE” or “Stopped”).
  • Lock Screen — wake the screen while driving to see a full card with the same information. Useful when your phone is mounted and you want a quick glance without unlocking.

Requirements: iPhone running iOS 16.1 or later. Dynamic Island presentations require iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, or 17 Pro (and Max variants). Non-Pro iPhones and iPhones older than the iPhone 14 line still get the full Lock Screen presentation.

If you don’t see Live Track:

  1. Open Settings > AutoDrive and confirm Live Activities is turned on. The Setup Assistant has a dedicated page that will send you here if the toggle is off.
  2. For the Lock Screen specifically, check Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Allow Access When Locked and confirm Live Activities is enabled there as well.
  3. Focus modes and Do Not Disturb can hide Live Activities. If you use a Driving focus, make sure AutoDrive is in its allowed-apps list.

Live Track is read-only — it’s a view of the drive in progress. To end a drive, open AutoDrive and tap End Drive as usual. The Live Activity will disappear immediately.
