🔌 Logging a Charging Session
Record EV charging sessions to track spending, energy use, and cost-per-kWh over time.
To log a charging session, open the Charging tab and tap the + button. The Charging tab takes the place of the Fuel tab whenever the active vehicle is electric, so you will only see one or the other depending on which car you are using.
The charging entry form includes these fields:
- kWh — the energy added to the battery during the session
- Total cost — what you paid for the session (leave at 0 for free chargers)
- Odometer reading — your current mileage at the time of the charge
- Location — where you charged (Home, Work, station name, etc.)
- Notes — optional field for network, connector type, charge level, or other details
When you log a session on your phone with location services available, AutoDrive also captures the charger’s coordinates alongside the entry — useful for distinguishing a particular DC fast-charging stop from your home Level 2 when both share a network name.
AutoDrive calculates the cost per kWh automatically from the total cost and kWh entered. Over time, your charging log builds a history that powers efficiency calculations and spending trends on the dashboard — the EV equivalent of fuel economy and price-per-gallon for ICE vehicles.
For the most accurate efficiency tracking, log every session and always record the odometer reading. Mixing in a few free Level 2 home charges with paid DC fast-charging is fine — AutoDrive separates the totals so you can see what each is costing you.
