📍 Named Locations
Give frequently-visited addresses a friendly name like Home, Work, or Gym. Drives that start or end there pick up the name automatically.
A Named Location is a friendly label you attach to an address you visit often — Home, Work, the gym, a customer office, your kid’s school. When a drive starts or ends within the location’s match radius, AutoDrive automatically uses the name in place of the raw street address everywhere drives are shown: the recent-drives list, drive details, exports, and reports.
Where to manage them. AutoDrive Online → Settings → Named Locations. iOS → Settings → Preferences → Named Locations. Android → Settings → Named Locations.
Adding one. Tap + Add Named Location, type a name (e.g. Home), drop the pin on the map or paste an address, and choose a match radius. The default radius is 100 m, which works for a typical house or office and absorbs normal GPS variance; tighten it (down to 10 m) for a precise spot like a front door. Anything wider than 100 m tends to cross-match neighboring buildings, so the slider caps there.
Match radius. Each location carries its own radius, so a precise “Home” can sit at 30 m while a more permissive “Office” sits at 100 m. When two locations overlap, the tighter (smaller-radius) one wins for any drive that lands inside both — useful for things like a specific entrance inside a larger campus.
How matching works. Whenever a drive is saved, AutoDrive first checks the start and end coordinates against your named locations — if either falls inside a match radius, the drive picks up that location’s name. When GPS variance puts the endpoint outside the radius, AutoDrive falls back to comparing the reverse-geocoded address text (after normalizing for street-suffix abbreviations like “St”/“Street”, “N”/“North”, etc.), so an address that matches by name still picks up the friendly label. If you create a new named location later, AutoDrive retroactively re-tags every drive whose start or end matches by either path — you don’t have to rebuild your history.
Auto-suggest. AutoDrive watches the spots where you end drives. If you keep ending up at the same unnamed coordinate (3 visits or more), the app surfaces a “Save as named location?” prompt with that address. Accepting jumps you straight into the create form with the lat/lng pre-filled; declining mutes that cluster permanently.
Subscription required. Named Locations requires an active Personal or Fleet subscription to create, edit, or auto-tag drives with named locations. Free accounts (and groups whose subscription has lapsed) keep their existing named locations on file, but won’t be able to make changes or have new drives picked up by them until the subscription is active again. Resubscribing restores everything immediately — no rebuild needed.
Privacy & scope. Named locations are per-user — they travel with you across account groups. A Fleet driver’s “Home” stays private to them even when their drives live in the group owner’s account; group owners and admins never see another member’s named locations.
Editing & deleting. Tap a row to edit the name, icon, address, coordinates, or radius. Moving the pin or changing the radius re-evaluates which drives this location matches: drives that no longer fit are detached and fall back to the raw address; drives that newly fit are adopted. Deleting a location detaches all drives that referenced it; the underlying drives keep their coordinates and addresses unchanged.
Sync. Named locations sync alongside drives, vehicles, and purposes — create one on Online and it shows up on iOS within a sync cycle, and vice versa.
