🚀 Personal vs Fleet — What's Different?
Both types share the same data model. The differences are in default privacy, subscription SKU, and UI language.
Every account group is either Personal (household) or Fleet (company). You pick the type when you create the group; the owner can change it later under Manage Group.
| Personal | Fleet | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can see drives | Every member sees every drive in the group. | Members see only their own drives; owners and admins see everyone's. |
| Reports across members | All members can run reports across the whole group. | Only owners and admins can run cross-member reports. |
| Subscription plan | AutoDrive Personal | AutoDrive Fleet |
| UI language | "Family", "Add driver" | "Fleet", "Add employee" |
| Vehicles | Shared; every member can add/edit. | Shared; owners and admins manage the fleet inventory. |
Can I change the type later?
Yes, the owner can flip between Personal and Fleet from the Manage Group screen. The schema is identical — we don't delete or migrate data — so switching is safe even with existing vehicles, members, and reports. The only thing it touches is member visibility rules and which subscription SKU applies.
If you flip a group from Personal to Fleet and you had a Personal subscription active, the existing subscription keeps running until its period ends. Any renewal will re-verify the product against the new group type and, if it doesn't match, you'll be prompted to subscribe to AutoDrive Fleet. You can also cancel the Personal plan and re-subscribe on Fleet without any wait.
